Visiting Switzerland and Germany especially, two great nations that have contributed vastly to watchmaking advancements, I saw first-hand how passionate other cultures are about timepieces. There, more so than here in the U.S., I saw how watches are esteemed as great fashion pieces and how essential they are to a man's wardrobe. Especially in Hamburg and Geneva, where the top watch brands are found on nearly every corner. I came to appreciate the diversity and distinctions between the greatest brands and saw how there is one for every walk of life.

If you are gifting someone who is traditional, classic, and smooth, then Rolex is another perfect option for you. And the wearer, of course. The Explorer Collection would be most symbolic for a college graduate, as they are on to the next phase of their life. But would also fit perfectly upon a father's wrist. You can't go wrong with a Rolex, no matter the year, no matter the model. But with the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Explorer II, you are securing a future filled with success. People trust a Rolex, with the solid engineering and austere of integrity. And as a dynamic and functioning watch, durable beyond belief, this is a gift not only for the wearer, but for future generations to come.
As I write this I am wearing my Temption Cameo watch and can say the both dial choices are beautiful and highly legible. I anticipate that pricing will be competitive at under ,000 which is a good value from the boutique German watch maker who produces well under 1000 watches each year. The Cameo Silver watch will be announced officially at Baselworld later this month and available sometime after that.
Wow. Just check this out - the RSW Moonflower for Women.

And as you watch this video, the Lotus Flower comes to represent so much more. This is the power of the Perrelet double rotor unfolding. Your knowledge of mechanical watches growing. The abundance of time spread out before you.
In a nutshell, the watch has a very thin profile steel 40mm wide case (without the diminutive crown), with a handsome looking mesh steel bracelet. With it’s thin bezel, the watch face looks very large, even though the size of the watch is only in the upper medium range. I think the size is perfect actually. The dial has a lot of grazing space for your eyes, but also has a nice circular arrangement of Arabic numerals. This makes it one of the more legible Skagen watches in my opinion. The dial is slate (gray) colored with some vertical texturing when you look closely (actually brushed metal), and the applied hour makers and hands are chromed, and raised just a bit.
The Galaxy watch is available in three sizes, 36, 39, or 42mm thick, while each being a relatively thin 11.6mm. The watch comes in stainless steel, white gold, or red gold, and looks terrific in each color. 36mm might sound a bit small, but the size is popular in Asian markets. I am going to go with the 42mm size! The watch is remarkably easy to read despite its non traditional design. This is aided by hour markers around the chapter ring of the bezel. The case is further available with or without pave diamond settings, while the cylinder lug design with the attached alligator strap is pretty hip looking completing this very cool watch for a very select few. Price? Remember that thing about being able to afford it if you have to ask? That applies here.
MM: Is there something special about your watch love that assists or compliments your career? And conversely, what about your career furthers or shapes your passion for watches?
DP: Being that my profession takes me around the world for performances, I need a dual time model. My Rolex GMT II Master has a 24 hour hand and an independently adjustable 12 hour hand, allowing me to simultaneously check the time in any two time zones. When traveling between Nice and Monaco and Brussels and Hamburg, being able to track the time in my current time zone, as well as where my family is, allows me to keep in touch while traveling and not wake up the family while doing so!

The case itself is 18k rose rose, with at least one version featuring black gold accents (like the bezel). My favorite case is the one with the large skeletonized lugs, reminiscent of 1970's watch designs with that modern twist. The lugs on the 44mm case have that integrated look and just match up well with all the polishing all over the case and dial. This watch is like two steps away from being a blingy watch, almost, but not quite. I can see how the wrong crowd will mistake the automatic movement rotor on the face of the watch for Frederic Jouvenot's take on "wheel spinners" for watch. As for the name of the watch, it is pretty silly, "Automatic Chronograph Evolution." Come on... really? Lets get with the time and give it a name that isn't merely descriptive. "Yea, I know it is an automatic chronograph, but what is it called?!" Hopefully at launch there will be a new name as well.
City Pules' data collected from the Green Watch will be available to anyone. You will be able to visit the interactive map located at la Montre Verte City Pulse here to see the most polluted areas in Paris (in French). You can also download the data on the website. The project literally just started in May, so it is brand new. I do think it is quite cool, and the watch looks like an eye on purpose. It is there to always "view" what is going on with the environment. Leave it to the French to build in the symbolism - I love it. Eventually the project will have thousands of people, hopefully all over the world who are using this type of cloud sourcing concept to battle the problem of having always up to date information on environmental conditions.
The movement is the Cuervo y Sobrinos 3050 Calibre movement based on an automatic Valjoux 7750. The movement modifications include a periphery date, removal of the day of the week, and a moon phase indicator dial. at 3 o'clock. That leaves the movement with the 12 hour chronograph. Even though the movement is a Valjoux 7750, the modifications and nature of the watch are appropriate for a watch of this price. We are talking about a pretty large watch case at 45mm wide, which is about as big as you can get and still look good on most wrists. That is sort of the point when it comes to a watch like this. Loud and proud is the major theme. Use of gold and bronze tones, as well and the blacks with a hint of blue in the moonphase are perfect to setting the tone, and I wholly enjoy the images that looking at the watch inspire in my mind. The watch issues a two tone rubber strap to attach to your wrist with a titanium buckle. The top is black rubber, while the bottom is light gray rubber, with gold stitching.
MM: What do you look for in a watch? And, if you had to name your Top 5 Brands, which would they be?
DP: I focus on versatility and visual appeal. A watch must look good, as it will be worn on your wrist daily. It must be a great investment piece that has some emotional attachment. Be innovative, sleek and classy. And be able to gracefully transition from stage to dinners to yachting.
The reason I really like Jumping Hour watches is their convenient simplicity and ease of use. To tell the time you glance at the digit in the hour window (for the hour), and then observe the position of the minute hand. It reduces the mental calculation required to tell the time, and it's more 'pure' that a wholly digital watch. Just think about using a Jumping Hour watch and consider how it would be easier. Jumping Hour watches have a lot of use, but are difficult to design because it is hard to play with the orientation of the hands to make each new Jumping Hour watch look fresh. Perrelet has taken the approach of adding a large seconds dial to enhance the interest of the look. I think the contrasting colors and textures are well done.
